Good to know
Clips up to 30 seconds. GIF is an old format — large widths and high frame rates create big files (often several MB). Audio is dropped. Encoding runs on the main thread, so very long GIFs can make the page sluggish.

FAQ

What settings make a small GIF?

Keep it under 5 seconds, 10–12 fps and 320–480 px wide. Fewer colours (64–128) also helps, especially for screen recordings.

Why is my GIF so big compared to the video?

GIF compresses each frame separately with only 256 colours, so it's far less efficient than modern video codecs. That's normal.

Is the video uploaded?

No. Frames are captured and encoded entirely in your browser.
