Good to know
Uses a built-in GIF decoder (works in every browser) and re-encodes with gifenc. GIFs that were already optimised by tools like gifsicle may not get smaller. Transparent GIFs skip the changed-pixels optimisation. Very large GIFs (hundreds of big frames) need a lot of memory.

FAQ

How much smaller will my GIF get?

Screen recordings and UI demos often shrink 40–80% thanks to changed-pixel storage. Photographic GIFs mainly shrink when you reduce scale, colours or frames.

Will dropping frames change the speed?

No. The delays of removed frames are added to the frames that remain, so the animation keeps the same total length.

Does it support transparency?

Yes, transparent GIFs keep their transparency; the changed-pixel optimisation is skipped for them.
