B-roll generation plan

Map a talking-head or voice-over script to b-roll moments and decide, shot by shot, whether to film, use stock or generate.

You'll need: A script or transcript

Fill in your details

Values are inserted into every prompt below. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

4 field(s) left — unfilled variables stay as {{placeholders}}.

  1. 1Mark b-roll moments

Paste the script. The model identifies where visuals should support, not just decorate, what's being said.

Here is a script for a {{total_runtime}} video about {{topic}}. Visual style: {{style}}.

    {{script}}

Go line by line. For each sentence or phrase that benefits from b-roll, output: Line (quote) | Idea it supports | B-roll idea | Duration | Source: FILM (only we can shoot it, e.g. our product or team), STOCK (generic and widely available), or GENERATE (abstract, impossible or expensive to film) | Reason.

Aim for a cut every 3-6 seconds. Avoid literal visuals for abstract ideas (no "lightbulb for idea").
  2. 2Write generation prompts for GENERATE shots

Only generate what can't easily be filmed or sourced. Generated b-roll of real places and real products tends to look subtly wrong.

For every shot marked GENERATE, write a video prompt: shot size, one camera movement, subject and action, setting, lighting, style "{{style}}", duration. Keep all prompts in the same lighting and colour family so they cut together.
  3. 3Build the shot checklist

Ask for the final list grouped by source (film / stock / generate) so you can batch the work.

Example input

8-minute explainer on compound interest, bright minimal pastel style.

Example output

| "Money left alone keeps growing" | Growth over time | Time-lapse of a seedling growing into a small tree in a pastel studio | 4s | GENERATE | Abstract, slow to film | | "Open your banking app" | Practical step | Phone screen recording of our demo app | 3s | FILM | Must be accurate |

Troubleshooting

  • Too many GENERATE shots: ask the model to reclassify, preferring FILM or STOCK when either is realistic.
  • Shots don't cut together: fix one lighting and colour description and reuse it.

Known limitations

  • Stock availability and licensing must be checked on the stock site; the model cannot verify it.
