You give
Any audio the browser can decode: MP3, AAC/M4A, WAV, OGG/Opus, FLAC, WebM, or a video's soundtrack
You get
WAV (16/24/32-bit), WebM/Opus, OGG/Opus or M4A/AAC depending on browser support
Good to know
MP3 output isn't available: browsers have no built-in MP3 encoder and we don't load extra libraries. Compressed formats are recorded in real time with MediaRecorder (a 4-minute song takes 4 minutes). Metadata tags (artist, cover art) aren't copied.

FAQ

Why can't I convert to MP3?

No browser ships an MP3 encoder. We'd have to download an extra encoder library, so instead we offer WAV (universal) and Opus/AAC where supported.

What's the best format for speech-to-text tools?

Mono, 16,000 Hz WAV is what most transcription engines expect, and it keeps files small.

Can I extract the audio from a video?

Yes — drop the video file in and convert it to WAV or Opus.
