What it does

When installed, the agent can create reusable test utilities for a game project, such as assertion functions, factory functions that build test objects, and mocks, placed in the engine's test helper folder. It first reads the project's existing test files to match their style, and it is instructed to use the project's configured test framework's assertion API rather than plain language asserts, and to generate nothing if it cannot confirm that API. The goal is less repeated setup code in tests.

Great for

  • Game developers using Godot, Unity or Unreal who already have a test framework set up
  • Teams whose test files repeat the same setup and teardown code
  • Developers starting tests for a new game system who want consistent helpers

Skip it if

  • Projects without an engine configured or without a test framework, since the skill stops and asks for setup first
  • Non-developers looking for general-purpose test writing outside game engines, because the helper rules are specific to Godot, Unity and Unreal
  • Anyone expecting it to verify the framework API automatically: the file itself notes the Godot example is a placeholder and the skill depends on the agent looking up the correct API, which may fail or be incomplete

Try asking

  • “/test-helpers scaffold to create the base helper library on first run”
  • “/test-helpers combat to generate helpers for the combat system”
  • “/test-helpers all to build helpers for every system that has test files”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    test-helpers.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip test-helpers.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip test-helpers.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run /test-setup first so the test framework and folder structure exist before generating helpers
  • Review generated helper files before committing, since the assertion API is looked up at runtime and may need correction
  • Start with scaffold on a new project, then add system-specific helpers one at a time
