What it does
When you want game ideas or want to replace a current concept, this skill walks the agent through a structured brainstorm. It proposes short concept options, asks you to pick or combine them, and fills in a one-page game brief covering the core loop, player goal, fail state, MVP features, scope cuts, and build order. Depending on the configured workflow level, it can also run a fuller concept process with director review gates, but the default is the lighter one-page brief. It is part of a larger game-studio agent setup, so its outputs are designed to feed later steps such as creating stories and starting development.
Great for
- Developers starting a new game who want a written plan before coding
- Game jam participants who need to quickly choose and scope a concept
- Solo creators who want an agent to ask structured questions and keep the MVP small
Skip it if
- Users who only want a finished game design document without discussion, since the flow asks you to pick options and approve the write
- Projects not using the surrounding Claude Code Game Studios setup, because it references project files such as hooks, templates, and config that are not part of this skill's files alone
Try asking
- “Help me brainstorm a cozy farming game concept for a game jam”
- “I want a new game idea mixing puzzle mechanics and space exploration”
- “Drop my current idea and suggest three fresh directions”
- “Turn my rough game idea into a one-page game brief with an MVP list”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- State a genre, theme, or the word open in the hint after the skill name to get more relevant concept options
- Keep the MVP to 7 or fewer items; the skill will push back on longer lists
- Check the written file design/game-brief.md after the run, since the brief is only saved after you explicitly approve the write
