What it does

Once installed, the agent acts as a quality gate for a game project's architecture. It reads the game design documents and architecture decision records (ADRs), builds a traceability matrix linking each design requirement to the decision that covers it, and looks for missing coverage, conflicting decisions, and mismatches with the pinned game engine version. It then produces a PASS, CONCERNS, NOT ASSESSED, or FAIL verdict and can write a report and update a traceability index, asking for approval before writing.

Great for

  • Game developers running a formal architecture review before moving from technical setup into pre-production
  • Technical leads who want a traceability check between design documents and architecture decisions
  • Teams in the Claude Code Game Studios framework who need a requirements-to-stories-to-tests chain in the production phase

Skip it if

  • Small projects without written game design documents or ADRs, since there is nothing to trace (the skill expects those files to exist)
  • Non-game software, because the workflow is built around game design documents and game engine compatibility
  • Treating the verdict as final sign-off: the skill describes its verdict as advisory, and it can miss issues outside the files it reads

Try asking

  • “Run a full architecture review of my game project before pre-production”
  • “Show me which design requirements have no architecture decision record yet”
  • “Check my ADRs for conflicts with each other and against the pinned engine version”
  • “Build a requirements traceability matrix linking GDD requirements to ADRs, stories and tests”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Architecture ReviewInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 10 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    architecture-review.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip architecture-review.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip architecture-review.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run the skill with a focus argument such as coverage, consistency, engine or rtm to narrow scope and reduce time and token use
  • Review the matrix and draft report inline before approving any write, since the skill asks for approval first in collaborative mode
  • Make sure the framework's helper scripts and docs (.claude/scripts, .claude/docs) are present, because the skill depends on them
