What it does

When invoked, this skill lets the agent show the current project configuration (team-wide project.yaml and per-developer project.local.yaml overrides) or change a single setting without the user hand-editing YAML. It validates values against allowed options, reports which settings are effective after merging, and warns when a setting is documented but nothing in the project actually reads it, so the user is not misled into thinking it has an effect.

Great for

  • Developers using the Claude Code Game Studios framework who want to check or tweak project.yaml settings
  • Team leads who need to set a shared config value and keep personal overrides in project.local.yaml

Skip it if

  • Projects that are not using the Claude Code Game Studios framework, since it stops if the yaml-helper.sh hook is missing
  • Users who want to change settings without reviewing them, because writes to project.yaml ask for confirmation and may need careful review of which key is changed

Try asking

  • “/settings”
  • “/settings modes.review_mode”
  • “/settings --local modes.review_mode=strict”
  • “/settings testing.strict.logic=true”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Project Settings ViewerInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    settings.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip settings.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip settings.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run /settings with no arguments first to see the effective merged values before changing anything.
  • Use --local for personal preferences so they stay out of the committed project.yaml.
  • If a setting is flagged as reserved, know that saving it will not change any behaviour until a skill or hook reads it.
