What it does

When you ask it, the agent looks for your sprint or milestone plan, a sprint status file, recent git commits and any earlier retrospectives, then writes a structured review covering what was finished, what slipped, blockers, TODO/FIXME trends and action items for the next iteration. It is strict about missing inputs: if a required file is absent, the report says NOT ASSESSED rather than inventing numbers. It also checks for an existing retrospective and asks before overwriting or archiving one.

Great for

  • Game or software teams using the Claude Code Game Studios production folder structure (sprint plans, sprint-status.yaml, stories)
  • Solo developers who want a written review of recently closed stories and git activity
  • Project leads who want action items traced back to blocked stories

Skip it if

  • Projects with no sprint plans or story files: the skill will stop with BLOCKED or NOT ASSESSED, so it adds little value without that structure
  • Teams wanting an automatic metrics dashboard: velocity and trends depend on earlier retrospectives existing, and missing history is reported as no data
  • Situations where git history or notes should not be sent to an AI tool, since it reads repository content and commit messages

Try asking

  • “Run a retrospective for sprint-3”
  • “Write the milestone retrospective for the combat-prototype milestone”
  • “Update the existing retro for sprint-5 with the latest completed stories”
  • “Summarise blockers and action items from the last sprint”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    retrospective.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip retrospective.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip retrospective.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Keep production/sprint-status.yaml updated with status and blocker fields so blocked stories are picked up automatically.
  • Pass a sprint identifier such as sprint-3 or a milestone name so the skill finds the right files.
  • Answer the prompts about existing retrospectives deliberately: choosing Start fresh archives the old file.
