What it does

When you ask your agent to review code, this skill makes it check the files against a fixed checklist: coding standards (doc comments, method length, complexity, dependency injection), architecture rules (dependency direction, layer separation, no circular dependencies), and SOLID principles. If the project has architecture decision records (ADRs), it also checks whether the code follows them. The skill is strict about missing inputs: if a required file or data source is absent, it reports 'NOT ASSESSED' instead of inventing a clean result.

Great for

  • Game or software teams using the Claude Code Game Studios template who want consistent architectural reviews
  • Developers who want a structured review of a file or folder against stated coding standards
  • Teams that record design decisions as ADRs and want code checked against them

Skip it if

  • Quick style or linting checks, since it is an architectural review that reads files and reasons about them rather than running a linter
  • Projects without the surrounding studio folder structure (hooks, docs, project.yaml), where the setup step and referenced docs will be missing and parts of the review will be reported as not assessed

Try asking

  • “/code-review src/combat/AttackSystem.cs”
  • “/code-review Assets/Scripts/Player/ path-to-story.md”
  • “Review the inventory module for SOLID violations and testability problems”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    code-review.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip code-review.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip code-review.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Pass a story file as the last argument so the ADR check can read the governing decision record.
  • Expect NOT ASSESSED sections if the project lacks project.yaml, engine configuration or ADR files; these are deliberate, not errors.
  • Review one module at a time for more focused findings on large codebases.
