What it does

Once installed, the agent can send WhatsApp messages, files, or group messages to other people on your behalf when you explicitly ask it to, and can search or back up your WhatsApp message history using the wacli command-line tool. The skill tells the agent to confirm the recipient and message text before sending, and to avoid using this tool for ordinary chats with you. It works by running wacli commands, which must be installed separately and linked to your WhatsApp account by scanning a QR code.

Great for

  • People who want an assistant to send WhatsApp messages to contacts or groups on their behalf
  • Users who want to search old WhatsApp conversations for an invoice, date range, or keyword
  • Developers automating WhatsApp messaging through a command-line workflow

Skip it if

  • Automated or bulk messaging to many recipients, which risks WhatsApp account restrictions and sending messages people did not request
  • Sensitive private conversations, since the tool reads and stores message history locally and the agent may access it
  • Anyone who does not want a tool holding access to their WhatsApp account; setup requires linking your phone via QR code

Try asking

  • “Message +14155551212 and tell them I'm running 5 minutes late”
  • “Search my WhatsApp history for messages about the invoice from 2025”
  • “Send the file agenda.pdf to my project group with the caption Agenda”
  • “Sync my WhatsApp history so I can find the address Sam sent last month”

    wacli.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip wacli.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip wacli.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Always give the agent an explicit recipient and exact message text, and check the confirmation it shows before approving the send
  • Use the --limit and --chat options when searching so results stay focused and private data exposure is minimized
  • Keep sync running only when needed and review the ~/.wacli store directory and its contents, since it holds your message data
