What it does
When asked for a project history or 'journey' report, the agent pulls the full recorded development timeline for a project from a local claude-mem memory worker, then has a sub-agent write a long narrative covering the project's origins, architectural changes, breakthroughs, debugging efforts and work patterns. It also estimates the size of the data first and asks for confirmation before large analyses. It requires claude-mem to already be installed and to have recorded observations for the project.
Great for
- Developers who have used claude-mem for months and want a retrospective of a project
- Team leads wanting a narrative summary of how a codebase evolved
- Anyone who wants a 'story of this project' written from recorded session history
Skip it if
- Projects without any claude-mem observations, since there is no timeline to analyze and the report would be empty or fail
- Very large projects with tens of thousands of observations, where token costs can run to hundreds of thousands of tokens and the user should weigh cost before proceeding
- Situations where session notes may contain sensitive content that should not be summarized into a shareable report
Try asking
- “Write a timeline report for this project”
- “Journey into my-app”
- “Analyze my project history and tell me the key breakthroughs”
- “What's the story of this project?”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip timeline-report.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip timeline-report.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Run it inside the project's directory so the project name and git worktree detection resolve correctly
- Check the token estimate it reports before confirming, especially for large histories
- Treat the output as a narrative draft and verify dates and claims against the actual git history
