What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent to search a persistent memory of earlier work sessions before answering questions like "did we already solve this?" or "how did we do X last time?". It follows a layered approach: first it searches for matching entries, then looks at surrounding context, then pulls full details only for the entries that matter, and only as a last resort opens the raw original tool inputs and outputs, which can be very long.
Great for
- Developers who use Cursor or a similar agent with the claude-mem memory system and want to reuse past fixes
- Teams that repeatedly hit the same bugs or configuration problems across sessions
- Anyone who wants the agent to recall decisions made in previous conversations
Skip it if
- Users who have not installed the claude-mem memory system, since the skill depends on its search tools and will not work without them
- Situations needing fresh information from the internet, because this skill only searches stored past-session memory
- Sensitive projects where stored session history should not be queried, since past tool outputs may contain secrets or private data
Try asking
- “Did we already solve this database connection timeout issue?”
- “How did we set up the CI pipeline last time?”
- “Find the notes from our previous session about the login refactor.”
- “What did we decide about the caching approach in earlier sessions?”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Start with a specific search query so the agent can narrow results before loading full details.
- Expect the agent to avoid raw tool outputs unless summaries are insufficient; ask explicitly if you need them.
- If the tools report missing, run the claude-mem install command for your host first.
