What it does

When installed, the agent can create, update, or audit a CLAUDE.md file, the project instruction file that Claude reads at the start of every session in a codebase. The skill tells the agent to analyze the project (stack, structure, existing docs), keep the file short (under about 200 lines), focus on what applies to every session, leave out style rules and code snippets, and optionally split detailed material into separate docs. It also covers AGENTS.md handling for newer Claude Code versions. The instructions are written in Ukrainian.

Great for

  • Developers setting up a new repository for AI coding agents
  • Teams that want to tidy up a bloated CLAUDE.md file
  • Anyone who wants an audit report on an existing CLAUDE.md without changes

Skip it if

  • Projects that need automatic generation of instructions: the skill itself says CLAUDE.md should be written by hand, so auto-generated output goes against its own guidance
  • Non-developers without a code project, since the output is specific to a repository

Try asking

  • “Create a CLAUDE.md for this repository from scratch”
  • “Audit my current CLAUDE.md and report its line count and anti-patterns without changing it”
  • “Update CLAUDE.md to remove style rules and code snippets”
  • “Create a directory-specific CLAUDE.md in src/api/”
Step-by-step guide: how to use CLAUDE.md WriterInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    claude-md.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip claude-md.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip claude-md.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Ask for audit first to see what would change before asking for create or update, since the skill asks for review before writing files
  • Review the draft the agent proposes before approving it, as the skill requires approval before the file is written
  • The skill's own rules (under 200 lines, no style rules) work best when your project already has linters and a README
