What it does

Once installed, the agent walks you through writing a blog post step by step instead of producing one text at once. It saves source summaries, proposes an outline for your approval, then writes a draft with inline citations and a references list. Each revision is saved as a new numbered version (draft-v0.1, v0.2, and so on) so you can track changes. It pauses for your feedback at each checkpoint.

Great for

  • Bloggers who want a structured, research-backed draft rather than a one-shot article
  • Students or writers who need every statistic and claim linked to a source
  • Content teams that keep versioned drafts and outlines in a shared folder or git repository

Skip it if

  • Quick one-off posts where you want the whole article immediately, since the workflow asks for approval at many steps
  • Publishing unverified claims: the skill asks for citations but the agent can still make errors, so check every source before publishing
  • Use inside a git repository you care about: the skill commits and pushes to the remote, which can publish files unexpectedly if the remote is configured for it

Try asking

  • “Help me draft a blog post about why small teams should adopt TypeScript, using these three links as sources”
  • “Continue my existing blog draft in blog-posts/2025-03-10-remote-work and revise it to be more casual”
  • “Turn my rough notes on home solar panels into an outline for a medium-length article for homeowners”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Blog Draft WriterInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    blog-draft.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip blog-draft.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip blog-draft.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent specific sources or URLs up front so the research step has solid material to cite
  • State your target length, tone, and audience in the first message to avoid extra clarification rounds
  • Check the References section and verify each link before publishing, since citations come from the agent's research
