What it does
This is an installation recipe for NanoClaw, an agent framework, that adds WhatsApp as a messaging channel using Meta's official WhatsApp Business Cloud API. Once applied, the agent copies a channel adapter file into the project, registers it, installs a pinned npm package, runs build and test commands, and asks the user to paste four Meta credentials that it saves to a .env file. The user then configures a public webhook URL in the Meta dashboard so WhatsApp messages can reach the agent.
Great for
- Developers running a self-hosted NanoClaw instance who want a WhatsApp bot on the official Meta API
- Operators who already have a WhatsApp Business number and a Meta developer app
Skip it if
- People who have never run a developer setup: it needs a Meta Business app, a public URL (ngrok or similar) and terminal work, and an incorrect setup will not receive messages
- Group-chat use cases: the channel notes state WhatsApp Cloud supports 1:1 conversations only
- Shared or production machines without care over secrets: it writes access tokens and an app secret into .env in plain text
Try asking
- “Add the WhatsApp Cloud API channel to my NanoClaw install”
- “Set up WhatsApp Business Cloud as a channel and walk me through the Meta dashboard steps”
- “My WhatsApp webhook verification is failing, help me troubleshoot it”
- “Upgrade my existing WhatsApp channel to the whatsapp-cloud webhook route”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Use a permanent System User token rather than the temporary API Setup token, which expires in about 24 hours and causes 401 errors
- Start the NanoClaw service before clicking Verify and save in Meta, since Meta sends a challenge immediately and the endpoint must already be live
- Review the .env changes and the copied adapter files before running the build step, because the skill executes shell commands and overwrites files in src/channels/
