Cursor Agent Provider

Lets NanoClaw run groups on Cursor's local Agent SDK, alongside or instead of Claude

What it does

This skill adds Cursor as an alternative AI engine that NanoClaw can use for each chat group, instead of Claude only. Once installed, a group configured with the Cursor provider runs its agent through Cursor's local SDK inside the group's container, with planning, tool use, MCP tools and session resume. Your Cursor sign-in or API key is kept in the credential gateway, and the container only sees a placeholder value.

Great for

  • NanoClaw operators who want some groups to run on Cursor's agent instead of Claude
  • Developers comparing agent backends inside the same NanoClaw setup
  • Teams that already have a Cursor account and want to reuse it for local agent runs

Skip it if

  • People who only want to use Cursor's cloud agents; the skill explicitly says those are a different thing and not this provider
  • Anyone unwilling to run an install that rebuilds images, changes barrel files and pins a dependency in the project
  • Setups on an older NanoClaw core, since the pre-flight check stops the install if required seams are missing

Try asking

  • “Install the Cursor provider and set up sign-in with my Cursor account”
  • “Switch the marketing group to use Cursor as its agent provider”
  • “Refresh the Cursor provider files after updating NanoClaw”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Cursor Agent ProviderInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 15 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    add-cursor.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip add-cursor.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip add-cursor.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run the pre-flight check first; if it reports no, run /update-nanoclaw before installing
  • Never paste your Cursor API key into chat; use the sign-in walk-through so the key goes straight to the credential gateway
  • Set the provider per group with ncl groups config update --provider cursor and test one group before switching others
