What it does

This skill installs a pinned command-line tool (Firecrawl AnyDoc 0.1.6) into the NanoClaw agent's container, plus an instruction file that teaches the agent when and how to use it. Once installed, when a user sends an office document or text-based PDF, the agent can convert it to Markdown inside the container so it can read and summarize the content without uploading the file to a hosted parsing service. The skill is written as an installer for developers who maintain NanoClaw, not as an end-user feature.

Great for

  • Maintainers of a NanoClaw deployment who want local document reading for chat attachments
  • Developers who need agents to read DOCX, PPTX, XLSX or EPUB files without a third-party parsing API
  • Teams that want to keep document contents inside their own infrastructure

Skip it if

  • Scanned or image-only PDFs, which the skill's smoke test expects to fail with a clear message, because the tool does not perform OCR (reason: no text to extract)
  • Users who are not running NanoClaw, since the installer steps assume its containers, database and service setup (reason: it will not apply elsewhere)
  • Environments with strict rules against running unreviewed third-party npm packages, since it executes a pinned npm CLI inside containers (reason: supply-chain exposure)

Try asking

  • “Install the AnyDoc skill into my NanoClaw install and rebuild the agent container”
  • “Summarize the Q3 sales section from the attached Excel workbook”
  • “Convert this attached PowerPoint into Markdown and list the slide titles”
  • “Read the attached EPUB and pull out the chapter headings”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Add AnyDoc Document ConversionInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 4 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    add-anydoc.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip add-anydoc.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip add-anydoc.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Read the Preflight section and confirm the 0.1.6 release gate and manifest checks pass before letting the agent proceed.
  • Run the smoke test with a real DOCX, PPTX or XLSX file rather than trusting the help output alone.
  • Use REMOVE.md to roll back cleanly if the converter does not suit your documents.
