What it does
This skill reconfigures one NanoClaw agent group so that, instead of calling Anthropic's cloud API, it sends its requests to a model running on your own computer through Ollama. It edits the group's container settings and Claude settings, adds a small code change to the NanoClaw container runner if it is missing, and can block the Anthropic API so the agent cannot reach it by accident. Once applied, the agent runs locally and costs no API fees, though answers may differ from Claude's.
Great for
- Developers who already run NanoClaw and want to test a local open-weight model
- People trying to cut Anthropic API costs for a specific agent group
- Users who want to experiment with models like gemma or qwen on their own hardware
Skip it if
- Users without Ollama installed and a capable local machine, since setup needs a running Ollama server and a pulled model
- Anyone expecting Claude-level quality from a local model, as responses and tool use may differ
- Non-technical users, because the steps involve editing Docker container config, TypeScript source, and launchd or systemd services
Try asking
- “Set up my support agent group to use a local gemma4 model through Ollama”
- “Route the coding agent to qwen3-coder on my machine and block the Anthropic API”
- “Switch my research agent back to Claude after testing the local model”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Verify Ollama is running with curl to localhost:11434/api/tags before starting, and check the exact model name with ollama list.
- Keep blockedHosts set to api.anthropic.com if you want to prevent accidental API spend, and remember the revert steps if you want Claude back.
- Expect a slow first reply from large models while they load; check /api/ps to see when the model is active.
