What it does

Adds Emacs as a messaging channel for the NanoClaw personal assistant. Once installed, you can open a chat buffer in Emacs, ask the agent about code or errors, or send a selected region or org-mode entry and get a reply inserted into your org file. It works by copying a channel adapter and Emacs Lisp client into your NanoClaw checkout and running a small HTTP server on localhost.

Great for

  • Emacs users (Doom, Spacemacs, or vanilla) who already run NanoClaw and want it inside their editor
  • Developers who want code review or error questions answered without leaving Emacs
  • People taking meeting notes or drafting prose in org-mode who want inline summaries

Skip it if

  • People who do not run NanoClaw or do not use Emacs, since the skill only wires into an existing NanoClaw install
  • Multi-user or shared machines, because the channel is single-user and the local port is open whenever enabled (an auth token is optional, not required)

Try asking

  • “Add the Emacs channel to my NanoClaw setup and walk me through the Doom Emacs keybindings”
  • “Send this org-mode region to NanoClaw for a code review and insert the reply under it”
  • “Set up an auth token for the Emacs endpoint and verify it with curl”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    add-emacs.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip add-emacs.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip add-emacs.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Set EMACS_AUTH_TOKEN, since without it any local process can read and post to the HTTP endpoint on port 8766
  • Run the verification steps (build, the registration test, and the curl check) before trying to chat from Emacs
  • Use agent-shared session mode if you want Emacs conversations to continue threads started in other channels
