What it does

This skill teaches an agent how to add Discord as a messaging channel for NanoClaw, a personal AI assistant framework. It copies a Discord adapter from the project's channels branch, registers it, installs a pinned adapter package, builds and runs a test, then walks you through creating a Discord bot, storing its credentials in .env, restarting the service, and opening a direct-message channel with the bot. Once installed, you can talk to your NanoClaw agent through Discord.

Great for

  • Developers running NanoClaw who want to reach their agent from Discord
  • Users who already have a Discord account and are comfortable creating a bot in the Developer Portal

Skip it if

  • People who have never run a local agent framework: the setup needs a working NanoClaw install, pnpm, and terminal access
  • Anyone unwilling to paste a bot token into a local .env file, since the skill stores it there and sends it to Discord's API

Try asking

  • “Add Discord as a channel to my NanoClaw assistant”
  • “Set up a Discord bot so I can DM my agent”
  • “Connect NanoClaw to my Discord server”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Add Discord ChannelInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    add-discord.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip add-discord.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip add-discord.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Keep the Bot Token secret; it is shown only once in the Developer Portal, and the skill writes it to .env.
  • Invite the bot to a personal server first, because the bot can only DM you once you share a server.
  • Review the copied adapter files and the pinned package before running the build, since the skill executes shell commands and restarts the service.
