About

Scan a QR code from a photo, screenshot or your camera and see what it contains before you open it. Works offline in your browser.

How to use it

  1. 1Upload a photo or screenshot that contains a QR code, or switch to camera mode.
  2. 2In camera mode, allow access and point your camera at the code.
  3. 3Read the decoded content. Wi-Fi, contacts, email and phone codes are broken into fields.
  4. 4Copy the result, or open a link only after checking the domain.
You give
PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or HEIC (where the browser supports it) image, or a live camera feed
You get
The decoded text with structured fields, copyable
Good to know
Reads standard QR codes only (not Data Matrix, Aztec or 1D barcodes). Very small, blurry, curved or heavily stylised codes may not decode. Camera mode needs HTTPS and camera permission. Video frames are processed on your device and never recorded.

FAQ

Does the reader open links automatically?

No. Links are shown as text with a safety reminder, and only open after you click and confirm. Malicious QR codes (“quishing”) are common on parking meters and flyers, so always check the domain first.

Is my camera feed uploaded?

No. Frames are analysed by JavaScript in your browser and discarded. The camera turns off as soon as a code is found or you press Stop.

Why won’t my screenshot scan?

Crop closer to the code, make sure the whole square including its white border is visible, and avoid screenshots that are heavily compressed. Codes inverted (light on dark) are also tried automatically.
