Competitor comparison worksheet

Compare competitors on criteria buyers actually use, with evidence for every cell and an honest view of where you win and lose.

You'll need: Your own research on each competitor (websites, pricing pages, reviews, sales calls)

Fill in your details

Values are inserted into every prompt below. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

5 field(s) left — unfilled variables stay as {{placeholders}}.

  1. 1Fill the worksheet

    Paste evidence you collected. The model's background knowledge about specific companies may be outdated or wrong, so the prompt asks it to rely only on your notes.

    Build a competitor comparison worksheet.

    Our product: {{your_product}}
    Competitors: {{competitors}}
    Buyer and what they care about: {{buyer}}
    Criteria to compare: {{criteria}}
    My evidence notes (source and date for each):
    {{evidence_notes}}

    Output:
    1. Comparison table: rows = criteria, columns = us + each competitor. Each cell: a short assessment plus a source tag from my notes. If my notes don't cover it, write "No evidence".
    2. Where we clearly win (with evidence).
    3. Where we clearly lose (be honest).
    4. Where it's a tie or unclear.
    5. Positioning implication: the one thing we should emphasise to this buyer, and the one objection we must prepare for.

    Do not use outside knowledge about these companies.
  2. 2Keep it current

    Date the worksheet and revisit it quarterly or when a competitor changes pricing. Never publish comparison claims externally without verifying them; comparative advertising has legal rules in many countries.

Example input

Taskline vs a general PM tool and an AEC suite, for architecture-firm practice managers.

Example output

| Fee tracking | Taskline: built-in, per stage [Our docs] | A: needs an integration [A pricing page, 10 Oct] | B: strong, with invoicing [B demo notes] | Where we lose: drawing management — B has native drawing registers; we don't. Positioning: emphasise fee tracking set up in a day; prepare for "Does it replace our drawing register?"

Troubleshooting

  • Cells filled without sources: re-run and require a source tag in every cell or 'No evidence'.

Known limitations

  • Competitor information changes often; the worksheet is only as current as your notes.
