What it does

When installed, the agent organizes multi-step work into a plan of groups (one per task) and steps with statuses (pending, in progress, done) that the user can see in a Todo panel. The agent works through steps in order, re-reads the list so it stays in sync with edits the user makes, and ends with a summary of what changed and how it was verified. The plan lives with the chat session, not in the code repository.

Great for

  • Developers who give an agent larger tasks and want to follow progress at a glance
  • People who want to add or remove tasks in a shared list while the agent is working
  • Anyone who wants a clear record of what was done and verified in a session

Skip it if

  • Quick one-off questions or simple one- or two-step edits, where the skill is designed to stay out of the way unless a plan is requested
  • Environments without a Todo panel or the todo_* tools, since the skill depends on that tooling (the file does not say what happens without it)

Try asking

  • “Plan out refactoring the login flow into three to five steps and track each one”
  • “Add a plan for migrating this API client, then mark steps done as you go”
  • “Take the loose TODO I added in the panel and work on it as its own group”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    todos.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip todos.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip todos.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Say explicitly 'make a plan' if you want a plan for a short task, since the skill otherwise skips plans for one- to two-step work
  • Check the Todo panel during long tasks; you can add or remove items and the agent will re-read the list
  • Ask for the verification status in the final summary if you need to know whether changes were actually tested
