What it does

When invoked, the agent looks at your uncommitted or staged git changes (or recently edited files), has three parallel review passes check them for duplicated logic, maintainability issues and wasteful work, then directly edits the code to apply low-risk cleanups. It finishes by running tests or a targeted build, typecheck or lint on the touched files.

Great for

  • Developers doing a cleanup pass after implementing a feature
  • People preparing a pull request who want tidier code before review
  • Teams using the Qwen Code agent who want consistent post-change polish

Skip it if

  • Projects with no tests or build tooling, where automatic edits cannot be verified and may introduce bugs
  • Reviewing code you have not committed or backed up, because the skill writes changes directly to your files
  • Large architectural refactors, which the skill is told to skip as speculative

Try asking

  • “/simplify”
  • “/simplify focus on performance in the API handlers”
  • “Clean up the changes I just made before I open a pull request”
  • “Look for duplicated helpers in my staged changes and reuse existing utilities”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Simplify Recent ChangesInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    simplify.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip simplify.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip simplify.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Commit or stash a backup before running, since edits are applied directly to files.
  • Add a focus after the command, such as /simplify naming or /simplify performance, to steer the review.
  • Run it on a narrow set of changes so the automatic edits are easy to review in your diff afterwards.
