What it does

Once installed, the agent stops answering research questions from a single search and instead queries several AI vendors in parallel, cross-checks their claims, tags findings as HIGH, MED, LOW or CONFLICT, and checks that each cited URL actually supports its claim before delivering it. It offers four depth levels, from a quick single lookup to a multi-step investigation saved to a persistent vault. It also routes opinion questions to community sources first and shows disagreements instead of averaging them away.

Great for

  • People who need sourced, checkable answers on a topic rather than a quick guess
  • Analysts or students who want disagreements between sources shown explicitly
  • Anyone researching products, venues, or public opinion who wants community voices quoted with links

Skip it if

  • Simple factual questions where a normal chat answer is enough, since the deeper tiers take minutes and call several paid vendor APIs
  • Looking up background on a private person or entity, which the skill itself says belongs to a different OSINT skill
  • Fetching or crawling raw pages at scale, which the skill routes to other tools

Try asking

  • “Do research on the current state of solid-state battery technology”
  • “Quick research: best vegetarian restaurants near the Lisbon old town”
  • “Extensive research on what users say about a specific project management tool, with quoted threads”
  • “Verify the claims in this report and flag anything weakly sourced”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Multi-Source Research SkillInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 15 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    Research.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip Research.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip Research.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Say which depth you want (quick, standard, extensive, deep); a bare 'research' runs Standard, and deeper tiers cost more time and API spend
  • Ask explicitly for community or sentiment sources when you want lived experience rather than marketing copy
  • Review the [CONFLICT] and [LOW] tags and the verifier output before relying on a conclusion
