What it does

When installed, the agent can look at the changes on your current git branch and write two text files: a Conventional Commit style pull request title and a pull request body filled into the repository's own PR template, including a Chinese summary section. It is designed for automated CI or autofix runs. The skill explicitly tells the agent not to push code, comment, or create the pull request itself, so a human or another step must do that.

Great for

  • Maintainers of repositories using a GitHub PR template who want consistent PR descriptions generated from a diff
  • Teams running non-interactive CI or autofix pipelines that need PR metadata files produced automatically

Skip it if

  • Anyone wanting the agent to actually open a pull request, since the skill forbids pushing and running gh pr create; the reason is that it only writes files
  • Repositories without a .github/pull_request_template.md file, since the skill expects that template to exist and fill it in

Try asking

  • “Prepare PR title and body files for my current branch in /tmp/autofix”
  • “Write pr-title.txt and pr-body.md for issue 123 using the repo PR template”
  • “Generate PR metadata from the git diff against origin/main without creating the PR”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Prepare PR MetadataInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    prepare-pr.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip prepare-pr.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip prepare-pr.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run it on a branch that already has commits against origin/main so the diff is meaningful
  • Provide the issue number as an argument so the Fixes line is added correctly, and review the generated body before opening the PR yourself
