What it does

When you ask for a product requirements document (PRD) or feature brief, this skill tells the AI agent to lay the document out as a single styled web page. The page includes a status header, a short summary, the problem being solved, goals and non-goals, a success-metrics table, user stories, a phased rollout plan and open questions. It also asks the agent to follow the project's DESIGN.md style guide so the page matches a chosen look.

Great for

  • Product managers who need a quick, shareable first draft of a spec
  • Founders or small teams writing up a new feature idea before engineering starts
  • Anyone who wants a PRD in English or Chinese (triggers include 需求文档)

Skip it if

  • Final, legally or contractually binding specifications, since the output is an AI draft that needs human review
  • Teams that need a Word or Confluence-based PRD workflow, because this produces a single HTML file
  • Projects with no written brief, since the agent will have to invent the goals and metrics

Try asking

  • “Write me a PRD for adding two-factor auth to our SaaS app: problem, scope, milestones, open questions.”
  • “Create a feature brief for a dark mode toggle in our mobile app, with success metrics.”
  • “需求文档:为电商结账页增加分期付款功能”
Step-by-step guide: how to use PM Spec WriterInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    pm-spec.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip pm-spec.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip pm-spec.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent a clear brief with the problem, target users and any known constraints so the metrics and scope are grounded.
  • Review the generated success metrics and targets, since the agent will propose numbers that may not match your business.
  • Keep the open questions section and resolve it with your team before sharing the spec as approved.
