What it does

Once installed, the agent walks you through contributing to the OpenDesign open-source project. You pick one of four types (ship a Skill or Design System you made, translate docs, fix a doc typo or write a blog post, or report a bug). The agent checks your prerequisites, runs validation scripts on your work, drafts the PR or issue text in English, and then pushes a branch and opens a pull request or issue on GitHub for you, using your own GitHub account.

Great for

  • Non-coders who made a Skill or Design System with OpenDesign and want to share it upstream
  • People who want to translate README or QUICKSTART docs into another language
  • Users who hit a bug and want help writing a clear GitHub issue

Skip it if

  • Anyone unwilling to have the agent create forks, branches, and public PRs or issues under their GitHub account (these are visible to everyone)
  • Work on private or non-OpenDesign repositories, since the skill is hard-locked to nexu-io/open-design
  • Situations where the agent's Bash access to scripts and GitHub credentials is not acceptable, since the bundled scripts run locally

Try asking

  • “Contribute to OpenDesign: I want to ship my OD skill upstream”
  • “Translate OD docs into Korean”
  • “Report an OD bug: the export button crashes on save”
  • “Fix a typo in the OpenDesign QUICKSTART”
Step-by-step guide: how to use OpenDesign Contribution FlowInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 15 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    od-contribute.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip od-contribute.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip od-contribute.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Read the diff and rendered PR body the agent shows you before it pushes anything; PRs are public.
  • Have gh auth login done in a normal terminal first so the agent does not need to handle tokens.
  • For translations, pick a doc with a missing or stale version so your work is most useful to maintainers.
