What it does

This skill teaches an AI coding agent to audit the notes it has saved about a project (its auto-memory, kept in MEMORY.md and topic files). The agent reads those notes, checks them against the project's CLAUDE.md rules, and reports which notes look like proven patterns worth promoting into permanent rules, which look stale, which overlap and could be merged, and which conflict with existing rules. It then gives a health report and recommendations. It does not change files itself according to the instructions shown.

Great for

  • Developers using Claude Code who have a growing MEMORY.md and want it kept lean
  • Teams that want to turn repeated lessons learned by the agent into shared CLAUDE.md or .claude/rules entries
  • Anyone who wants a periodic cleanup of what the agent has remembered about a project

Skip it if

  • Users who do not use Claude Code's auto-memory feature, since there is nothing to review (the skill will just report that memory may be disabled)
  • Situations where the memory directory contains sensitive data and the review output would be shared outside the team, because the report quotes memory entries

Try asking

  • “/si:memory-review”
  • “/si:memory-review --quick”
  • “/si:memory-review --stale”
  • “What has Claude learned about this project and what should be promoted to CLAUDE.md?”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Auto-Memory ReviewInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    memory-review.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip memory-review.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip memory-review.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run --quick often for a low-overhead check, and a full review when MEMORY.md nears the 200-line limit
  • Review the promotion and deletion suggestions yourself before editing CLAUDE.md or memory files, since the agent judges patterns by wording
  • Keep the memory directory under version control or backed up before pruning, as removed entries may not be recoverable
