What it does

Once an agent has produced and you have accepted an artifact (such as a design or project output), this skill sends it onward to where you will keep working on it: a local CLI project, the desktop app, a web marketplace, a container, a GitHub pull request, Figma, or another code agent like Cursor or Claude Code. It also records each push in the artifact's manifest as an append-only history, so the distribution trail is never overwritten.

Great for

  • Developers who run Open Design workflows and want accepted outputs moved into their editor or repository
  • Designers who round-trip work between Figma and an Open Design project
  • Teams publishing plugins or artifacts to a catalog through a pull request

Skip it if

  • Anyone who has not already set up the Open Design daemon and project, since the skill only works inside that environment
  • Sensitive or unreviewed artifacts pushed to public surfaces such as the web marketplace or GitHub, because the push is hard to undo and publishing exposes content to others

Try asking

  • “Push the accepted landing page to my desktop Open Design app”
  • “Open a pull request with this plugin to the catalog using od plugin publish”
  • “Round-trip my accepted changes back to the Figma source file”
  • “Hand this finished artifact to Claude Code working in my project folder”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Artifact HandoffInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    handoff.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip handoff.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip handoff.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Review the artifact and accept it in the diff-review step before handing off, since handoff assumes acceptance.
  • Name the exact target surface in your request so the agent does not push to one you did not intend.
  • Check the exportTargets history afterwards to confirm where the artifact went.
