What it does
Once installed, the agent follows the gentle-ai project's contribution rules when preparing code changes: it checks that a linked, approved issue exists, names branches with the required prefixes (feat/, fix/, docs/, etc.), keeps pull requests under about 400 changed lines, fills in the project's PR template, and avoids AI attribution trailers in commits. It is designed to stop and ask a human before it commits, pushes, creates PRs, or changes protected labels.
Great for
- Contributors to the Gentleman-Programming/gentle-ai repository who want an agent to follow its PR conventions
- Maintainers who want consistent branch names, issue links and PR templates across agent-made contributions
Skip it if
- Projects other than gentle-ai: the rules, labels and template paths are specific to that repository and would not apply elsewhere.
- Situations where an agent should act without human sign-off: the skill relies on explicit human authorization for pushes, PR creation and label changes, so it is not useful for fully automated publishing.
Try asking
- “Create a branch for a fix to the duplicate observation insert bug and prepare the PR body.”
- “Check whether my linked issue has status:approved before I open a pull request.”
- “Draft a PR description using the repository's template and list only the checks I actually ran.”
- “Pick the correct branch name and type label for my refactor of the query sanitizer.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Provide the issue number and whether the PR should close it on merge (Closes) or only reference it (Refs) before the agent starts, since it will ask.
- Grant remote read access for one specific repository and session; the skill will not probe ambient credentials on its own.
- Review every label change and PR body yourself; the skill is designed to leave unverified checkboxes unchecked and record pending actions separately.
