What it does

Once installed, the agent stops being a cheerful planning helper and acts as a tough thinking partner for founders and executives. It looks for weak assumptions in a plan, drills you on hard board questions, gives structure to decisions with no good options (layoffs, pivots, firings), and runs honest post-mortems on failures. It also includes two small Python tools: one scores weighted decision options and checks how sensitive the result is to the weights, and one maps stakeholders by influence and alignment to find blockers and swing votes.

Great for

  • Founders or executives preparing for a difficult board meeting
  • Leaders who have a plan they like and want it stress-tested before committing
  • Teams facing a painful decision such as layoffs, a pivot, or a co-founder conflict
  • Managers who want an honest post-mortem after a lost deal or missed quarter

Skip it if

  • Seeking validation for a decision already made, since the skill is designed to push back (it is meant for pre-decision scrutiny)
  • Replacing legal, HR, or financial professional advice on layoffs, firings, or legal threats, because the reference playbooks are general guidance
  • Users who want encouragement rather than criticism, since the tone is deliberately direct and uncomfortable

Try asking

  • “/em:challenge Our plan to double revenue next year through three new enterprise channels”
  • “/em:board-prep Prepare me for tomorrow's board meeting on our burn rate and missed targets”
  • “/em:hard-call Should we cut 20% of staff to reach 18 months of runway?”
  • “/em:postmortem We lost our largest customer deal last quarter”

    executive-mentor.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip executive-mentor.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip executive-mentor.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give concrete numbers (burn, ARR, runway, deal stages) so the challenges are specific rather than generic
  • Run the decision matrix scorer with your own weights and check whether the winning option changes; close calls deserve more thought
  • Treat the output as a prompt for your own judgement; the skill itself notes its findings are tagged by confidence, and assumptions should be checked against real data
