What it does

When run in a code repository, this skill inventories existing project files (such as CLAUDE.md, GLOSSARY.md, docs folders, and design-system folders) and then seeds a small set of shared instruction and vocabulary files. Other parts of the shared structure are only created the first time they are needed. It also detects the document language, migrates legacy glossary files, and reports what was created, deferred, or skipped. A later --check mode audits the repo for drift from this layout.

Great for

  • Teams starting a repo where both humans and AI agents will work from the same written context
  • Projects where conventions live in chat history or people's heads and should move into files
  • Maintainers who want a repeatable audit of an existing harness with --check

Skip it if

  • Throwaway prototypes with no collaborators, since the setup adds files with little benefit
  • Repos already set up with this harness, which should use --check instead of re-running the full setup
  • Repos where you do not want the agent to rename or rewrite existing CLAUDE.md or CONTEXT.md files, since a full run can perform such migrations

Try asking

  • “Set up this repo with the drydock harness so future agents inherit our conventions”
  • “Run drydock --check to audit this repo for drift from the shared harness”
  • “Migrate our legacy CONTEXT.md glossary into the GLOSSARY.md layout”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Drydock Shared Repo HarnessInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    drydock.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip drydock.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip drydock.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run it once at the start of a repo, and review the reported map before accepting any changes, since full runs can rename and rewrite files
  • Use --check for later audits rather than re-running full setup
  • Answer the language question explicitly for Chinese repos, because the skill asks for script-qualified tags such as zh-Hans or zh-Hant
