What it does
When you ask, the agent walks through your project folder by folder and writes an AGENTS.md file in each directory describing its purpose, key files, subdirectories, dependencies and instructions for AI agents working there. The files link to their parent folder so an agent can navigate from general to specific. It also re-checks and updates existing files while keeping any section titled Manual Notes intact.
Great for
- Developers onboarding AI agents to a large or unfamiliar repository
- Teams that want maintained, folder-level context documentation for coding agents
- Maintainers of projects using the oh-my-claudecode plugin
Skip it if
- Small single-file projects, where one root instructions file is enough
- Setups without the oh-my-claudecode hooks, since the skill says nested files will then be unread by the agent unless you add a root CLAUDE.md symlink or @AGENTS.md import yourself
- Repositories where you do not want an AI to write many new files, because it creates and overwrites AGENTS.md files across the tree
Try asking
- “Initialize AGENTS.md documentation for this entire codebase”
- “Update the AGENTS.md files after I added the new payments module”
- “Generate hierarchical agent docs for src and docs, keeping my Manual Notes sections”
Install in 3 steps
- 1
Download the skill
The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.
deepinit.zip - 2
Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip deepinit.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip deepinit.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Commit or back up your repository first, since existing AGENTS.md files are rewritten, and review the diff afterwards.
- Put any hand-written notes under the Manual Notes heading so regeneration preserves them.
- Run it on a clean branch and check the validation step results for broken parent references.
