What it does

This skill gives an AI agent a memory for decisions made in simulated board meetings. Raw meeting debates are saved separately from the final decisions the founder approved, and only approved decisions are used in future meetings. The agent can list recent decisions, find overdue action items, search by topic or owner, and flag contradictions or previously rejected proposals.

Great for

  • Founders or small teams running AI-assisted board or leadership meetings who want a consistent decision record
  • Developers studying how a two-layer memory pattern for agent workflows can be structured
  • Users of the wider claude-skills C-level advisor suite, where this skill is invoked by the board-meeting skill

Skip it if

  • Anyone expecting a general-purpose note-taking or project tool; it only handles the board-meeting decision format described in SKILL.md
  • Recording real legal, financial or governance decisions as an authoritative record; the files are plain Markdown on the local machine with no audit or backup guarantees, and the agent's output should be checked by a human

Try asking

  • “/decision-logger review --overdue to see action items past their deadline”
  • “/decision-logger decisions --topic pricing to find approved pricing decisions”
  • “Log this board meeting's approved decisions and check them for conflicts with earlier decisions”
  • “python scripts/decision_tracker.py --conflicts to detect contradictions in the decision index”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Decision LoggerInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    decision-logger.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip decision-logger.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip decision-logger.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run the --demo flag first to see sample output before pointing the tool at real decisions
  • Keep the approved decisions index as the source of truth and review agent-written entries before they are saved
  • Use the overdue and conflict reports regularly rather than relying on memory of past meetings
