What it does

When asked what a public company is worth, this skill makes the agent follow a structured discounted cash flow (DCF) method: gather revenue and cash flow figures, pick a discount rate using a sector range, project five years of free cash flow, and estimate a fair value per share. It also runs a sensitivity grid showing how the answer changes with different assumptions, and labels each input as sourced, derived, user-provided, or assumed. The result is a Markdown report saved to a Design Files folder, not a live trading tool.

Great for

  • Investors or students who want a transparent first-pass valuation of a listed company with the assumptions visible
  • Analysts who want a consistent report template and checklist for DCF work
  • Users who already have financial data (filings or figures they supply) and want it organised into a valuation

Skip it if

  • Making buy or sell decisions on its own: DCF outputs are highly sensitive to assumptions and the skill does not verify market data, so the report should be checked by a qualified professional before acting on it
  • Private companies, startups, or banks/insurers where standard free-cash-flow DCF is often inappropriate, and the skill's sector guidance is only a rough starting range
  • Situations needing real-time prices or verified financial statements, because the skill relies on whatever the agent can find or the user provides and may end up with missing or assumed inputs

Try asking

  • “Run a DCF valuation on Apple (AAPL) with the sensitivity matrix and sources listed”
  • “What is this company worth? Here are its last five years of free cash flow and share count: ...”
  • “Is MSFT undervalued? Build an intrinsic value report and summarise the upside or downside”
  • “Create a fair value estimate for this ticker and save the report in Design Files”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    dcf-valuation.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip dcf-valuation.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip dcf-valuation.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Provide your own revenue, free cash flow, debt, cash, and diluted share figures so the agent has less to guess, and check any figures it sources against the original filings.
  • Read the sensitivity matrix and the terminal value share before trusting the headline fair value; a small change in WACC can flip the conclusion.
  • Ask for the assumptions table first, correct any rows marked assumption, then ask for the full valuation.
