What it does

Once installed, the agent helps a commercial leader compare sales channels such as direct sales versus partner-led deals on a fully loaded basis, including sales staff time, partner discounts, partner marketing funds, support load and overhead. It guides the user through filling in a channel data template, then runs three Python scripts to compute cost to serve, ROI under cash, lifetime-value and marginal lenses, and a suggested channel mix with sensitivity scenarios. Each channel gets a verdict (DOUBLE-DOWN, MAINTAIN, DEFUND or EXIT), but the skill states that humans make the final decision.

Great for

  • Heads of Commercial, RevOps or VP Sales preparing a quarterly channel review
  • Finance or ops analysts checking a board question about partner program spend
  • Teams deciding whether to hire a channel manager or enter a new region direct-first or partner-first

Skip it if

  • Historical channel P&L or GAAP reporting, which the skill says belongs to finance tools (the outputs are forward-looking decisions, not accounting records)
  • Designing partner tiers, revenue-share splits or pricing, which are handled by other skills
  • Anyone expecting a guaranteed-correct answer: results depend entirely on the numbers entered, and the reference materials are cited canon rather than verified data

Try asking

  • “Run the cost-to-serve calculator on our direct and partner channel data and tell me which one makes money after CAC and support costs”
  • “Compare direct versus partner LTV and payback for our last four quarters and flag any channel to defund”
  • “Show a sensitivity table for our channel mix if direct CAC rises 20% or partner discount widens 5 points”
  • “Fill in the channel data template with my pipeline figures and explain the diminishing-returns point for partner spend”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Channel Economics AnalyzerInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 8 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    channel-economics.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip channel-economics.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip channel-economics.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Fill in every cost line, including partner enablement time and channel manager headcount, since the scripts flag items left at zero as likely hidden costs
  • Keep overhead allocation percentages consistent across channels, otherwise the comparison will be biased toward whichever channel is under-allocated
  • Run the --sample option first to see the output format before using real company data
