What it does

This skill makes an AI agent behave like a startup CFO. When you ask about burn rate, cash runway, LTV and CAC, fundraising dilution, term sheets or board financials, the agent follows a set of finance frameworks and benchmarks (for example burn multiple under 1.5x, LTV:CAC above 3x, runway above 12 months) and works through the maths step by step, modelling the downside first. It also includes three Python scripts that can calculate runway scenarios, per-cohort unit economics and cap table dilution from numbers you supply.

Great for

  • Founders or finance leads at early-stage SaaS or scaling companies who want a structured runway or fundraising review
  • Finance students learning startup metrics such as burn multiple, NDR and cohort LTV
  • Teams preparing board financial packs who want a checklist of what boards expect

Skip it if

  • Regulated financial, tax or investment advice: the skill is strategic guidance, not a licensed accountant or advisor, and its benchmarks are generic rules of thumb
  • Companies outside SaaS or venture-style growth, since the metrics and targets are tuned to that model
  • Decisions that depend on real bank data: the scripts use only the numbers you type in, so unverified inputs will give unverified outputs

Try asking

  • “How much runway do we have if we hire five engineers next quarter? Show base, bull and bear cases.”
  • “Analyze our unit economics by acquisition cohort and tell me if LTV:CAC is deteriorating.”
  • “Model the dilution from a $5M Series A at a $20M pre-money valuation, including an option pool top-up.”
  • “Prepare the financial section of our board pack: P&L summary, cash position, burn and asks.”

  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip cfo-advisor.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip cfo-advisor.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent cohort-level revenue and spend data rather than blended averages, since the skill is designed to avoid blended metrics.
  • Check the script assumptions (default 70% gross margin, 22% benefits load, 2% churn) and replace them with your actual figures before relying on outputs.
  • Treat the benchmark targets as starting points for discussion and validate major decisions with a qualified accountant or lawyer.
