What it does

When you ask the agent to review a plan that touches data strategy, it runs the plan through six Chief Data Officer-style questions: what decision the data supports, where each data source's consent comes from, how many teams consume it, whether it would survive an acquirer's diligence, whether the work could proceed without that source, and which hire is actually needed. It then produces a structured report with a SHIP, SHARPEN or BLOCK verdict and next steps. The skill is a text checklist and report template; it refers to three companion Python scripts (for training-data audit, architecture choice and asset valuation) that are not included in the files reviewed here.

Great for

  • Founders or product leads deciding whether to train models on customer data
  • Data leaders choosing between warehouse, lakehouse or mesh architectures
  • Teams preparing data assets for licensing, productization or M&A diligence

Skip it if

  • Legal advice: consent and contract conclusions are general prompts, not a substitute for a lawyer reviewing actual terms (regulatory exposure is high for personal data)
  • Precise valuation or M&A multiples: the output template expects numbers from scripts that are not in the reviewed files, so any figures the agent invents would be unreliable
  • Small projects with no customer data or no architecture decision, where six formal questions add overhead

Try asking

  • “/c-level-agents:cdo-review Train a support-ticket classifier on our customers' chat transcripts next quarter”
  • “/c-level-agents:cdo-review Sign a three-year Snowflake contract and move all analytics off Postgres”
  • “/c-level-agents:cdo-review Package anonymized usage data as an embeddings API for sale to partners”
Step-by-step guide: how to use CDO Plan ReviewInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    cdo-review.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip cdo-review.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip cdo-review.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Provide concrete details: data sources, consent language, number of consuming teams and customer contract terms, so the questions can be answered rather than guessed
  • Treat the verdict as a structured discussion prompt and confirm consent and contract points with legal counsel before acting
  • If you want the scripted audit or valuation numbers, check that the referenced scripts exist in your installed plugin and review them before running them on sensitive data
