What it does

This skill teaches an AI agent how to run your Playwright end-to-end tests on BrowserStack's cloud, which hosts many browser and operating system combinations you may not have locally. Once installed, the agent can add BrowserStack configuration to your playwright.config.ts, start test runs across Chrome, Firefox and Safari-style WebKit, and report pass/fail results per browser with links to videos and logs. It depends on your own BrowserStack account and credentials, and on an MCP server that the file says is not enabled by default.

Great for

  • Developers who already use Playwright and need cross-browser or cross-device coverage
  • QA engineers checking how a web app behaves on Safari, Firefox or Windows Chrome before release
  • Teams with a paid or trial BrowserStack account who want results summarised in one table

Skip it if

  • People without a BrowserStack account, since the skill stops and asks for credentials it cannot get for you
  • Projects not using Playwright, because the configuration and commands assume Playwright tests
  • Users expecting it to work out of the box: the file states the BrowserStack MCP server is not auto-registered and the results and browser-listing commands fail until it is set up manually

Try asking

  • “Set up my Playwright config to run tests on BrowserStack in Chrome, Firefox and Safari”
  • “Run my end-to-end tests across browsers on BrowserStack and tell me which ones fail”
  • “Show me the latest BrowserStack build results with video and log links”
  • “Which Playwright-compatible browser and OS combinations are available on BrowserStack?”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    browserstack.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip browserstack.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip browserstack.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Keep your BrowserStack access key out of source control; store it in environment variables or a secret manager, since the skill passes it inside connection URLs
  • Start with one or two browser projects before running the full matrix, because cloud sessions may consume your plan's parallel session and minute limits
  • Check your plan with the account-limits tool first, and confirm the MCP server is registered before relying on the results command
