What it does

When installed, the agent can help plan an Azure cloud setup: it asks about the app's users, budget, and compliance needs, suggests a suitable architecture pattern, and drafts Bicep infrastructure-as-code templates (Azure's configuration-file format for cloud resources). It can also review a JSON description of existing Azure resources for cost-saving ideas and produce GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps deployment pipeline snippets, plus a security checklist covering identity, secrets, networking and encryption.

Great for

  • Developers or small teams starting a new application on Azure who want a reasonable first architecture
  • Engineers who want a Bicep starting point to adapt and review before deploying
  • Teams looking for a checklist of Azure security and cost-review items before going to production

Skip it if

  • Production-critical infrastructure without expert review: the generated templates and cost figures are scaffolds and example estimates, and the scripts use fixed rules rather than live Azure pricing
  • Users who expect it to deploy or change their Azure account directly: the documented workflow generates files and commands, and running deployments needs your own Azure credentials and judgement

Try asking

  • “Design an Azure architecture for a web app with 10,000 users and a $500 monthly budget”
  • “Generate a Bicep template for an App Service and Azure SQL stack”
  • “Review this JSON list of my Azure resources and suggest cost savings”
  • “Create a GitHub Actions workflow that deploys my Bicep template to Azure”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Azure Cloud ArchitectInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 7 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    azure-cloud-architect.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip azure-cloud-architect.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip azure-cloud-architect.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent your real budget, region, and compliance requirements so the pattern recommendation is meaningful
  • Review every generated Bicep file and run az deployment what-if before deploying anything
  • Treat cost figures from the scripts as rough estimates and check them against the Azure pricing calculator
