What it does

This skill gives an AI assistant a set of rules for how simulated executive roles (CEO, CFO, CTO, and others) can ask each other questions. It defines a standard message format for requests and replies, and prevents runaway loops such as agents calling each other endlessly. It also sets rules for board-meeting phases, such as when roles must work independently, and for how to record and surface disagreements between roles.

Great for

  • Developers building multi-agent executive advisory setups in Claude Code or similar tools
  • People who want a structured way for several AI advisor roles to cross-check each other's analysis
  • Teams studying how to design loop prevention and isolation rules for multi-agent workflows

Skip it if

  • Simple one-question chats with a single assistant, since the protocol adds overhead without benefit
  • Real business decisions without human review, because the roles are AI simulations and their numbers may be invented or unverified
  • Anyone expecting it to connect to live company data by itself; it only defines message rules and assumes other skills supply the content

Try asking

  • “Ask the CFO role what hiring five engineers in Q3 does to burn rate, and have the CTO role check delivery timing.”
  • “Run a board-meeting style analysis where the Executive Mentor critiques other roles' outputs without new invocations.”
  • “Broadcast a crisis question from the CEO role to all roles and aggregate their independent answers.”
  • “Set up a cross-functional review where conflicting answers from the CRO and CFO are flagged rather than silently merged.”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Inter-Agent ProtocolInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    agent-protocol.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip agent-protocol.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip agent-protocol.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Use this alongside the other C-suite advisor skills it references, since the protocol only routes questions and those skills supply the domain answers.
  • Treat the stated confidence levels and numeric examples as illustrations; verify any figure against real financial data before acting on it.
  • Check the chain and invocation outputs in the transcript to confirm loop-prevention rules were actually followed.
