What it does
When you ask the agent to review a planned termination, it walks through a fixed checklist: basic facts, a scan for high-risk flags such as recent complaints, protected leave, whistleblowing, weak documentation and possible wage misclassification, then jurisdiction-specific final pay timing and severance or release terms. If a flag fires, it tells you to escalate and get sign-off before proceeding. The skill itself does not store the law; it says jurisdiction rules and release periods are researched and cited at each review.
Great for
- HR or people-ops staff preparing a termination decision with legal support
- In-house legal teams that want a consistent first-pass termination checklist
- Managers who want to know warning signs before a firing is final
Skip it if
- Making final legal decisions: the skill is a checklist and flagging aid, and its output needs review by employment counsel (it states it does not itself state the law).
- Calculating back pay or settlement amounts: the file tells the agent to route those numbers to a separate wage-and-hour process and mark them for verification.
- Jurisdictions or situations outside the employment-law setup the user has configured, since the skill relies on a practice configuration file it expects to exist.
Try asking
- “Reviewing a termination: we want to let a warehouse supervisor go for performance next month, what should I check?”
- “Can we fire this person? They recently filed an HR complaint.”
- “Term review for an employee in California who is on salary and has the title Operations Coordinator.”
- “Work out final pay timing and whether a release is needed for a laid-off employee in New York.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Set up the employment-legal CLAUDE.md configuration first, since the flags, severance practice and jurisdiction table are read from it.
- Provide the basic facts up front (state, title, salary, tenure, age, reason, planned date) so the checklist runs fully.
- Treat every 🔴 flag as a stop sign and involve counsel before the termination proceeds.
