What it does

When installed, the agent follows a fixed template to turn a raw customer interview (pasted text or an attached transcript) into a short, plain-language summary. It pulls out what the customer is trying to get done (Jobs to Be Done), how satisfied they are with their current solution, key insights or quotes, and concrete follow-up action items with dates and owners. The result is saved as a markdown document in the user's workspace.

Great for

  • Product managers synthesizing a batch of discovery interviews
  • Founders or researchers who want consistent interview notes
  • Teams that need follow-up actions captured right after a customer call

Skip it if

  • Interviews where the transcript is incomplete or poorly transcribed, since the summary can only reflect what is in the text and missing details will be shown as "-"
  • Legal, medical, or compliance-sensitive recordings, because the skill sends the transcript content to the model and does not describe any redaction of personal data

Try asking

  • “Summarize this interview transcript for our onboarding discovery and list action items”
  • “Turn the attached call transcript into a JTBD summary with satisfaction levels”
  • “Create an interview summary from this pasted transcript for the pricing research”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Summarize Customer InterviewInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    summarize-interview.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip summarize-interview.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip summarize-interview.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Include the interview date and participant names and roles in the transcript or your request, since the template asks for them and the skill fills gaps with "-"
  • Review the action item owners and dates, which the skill infers from the transcript and may need correcting
  • Check quotes against the original transcript before sharing the summary with others
