What it does

Once installed, the agent can scan your recent work sessions, low-rated frustration logs, and skill-gap records, then propose a ranked shortlist of new skills you might build. Each proposal must cite the evidence behind it and be checked against existing skills so it does not duplicate them. The skill is read-only: it never creates or edits a skill itself, and any accepted proposal is handed off to a separate skill called CreateSkill.

Great for

  • People who maintain their own collection of agent skills and want to know which recurring problems lack one
  • Developers using a personal memory or work-log setup (such as the LifeOS framework) who want evidence-based suggestions
  • Teams tracking repeated agent failures who want to see gaps hiding under topics that look covered

Skip it if

  • Creating, validating, or optimizing an individual skill, which is the job of CreateSkill, not this skill
  • Users without any recorded work history, ratings, or skill-gap data, since there is little evidence to ground proposals in
  • Anyone expecting it to automatically build or install skills, because it is designed to only propose

Try asking

  • “What skills should I build based on my recent work?”
  • “I keep hitting the same wall, am I missing a skill?”
  • “Suggest skills using the last 60 days of sessions”
  • “Skill gap check: what should I build next?”
Step-by-step guide: how to use SuggestSkillsInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    SuggestSkills.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip SuggestSkills.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip SuggestSkills.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Point --root or the SKILLSCAN_* environment variables at your actual data stores, since the collector only discovers paths and reports missing ones rather than guessing.
  • Review the evidence behind each proposal before accepting it, and only then run CreateSkill as a separate step.
  • Adjust --days and --max-rating to widen or narrow the window and the frustration threshold for more or fewer signals.
