What it does
This skill helps a law clinic hand active client cases from departing students to incoming students at the end of a semester. When run, the agent reads the clinic's configuration, deadline list and client communication logs, then writes a handoff memo for each case covering status, pending deadlines, open decisions, client relationship notes and first-week priorities. It also writes a cohort summary table showing who is taking over which case. The memos are saved as files in the clinic's configuration folder.
Great for
- Law clinic professors orchestrating end-of-semester offboarding of a whole cohort
- Students graduating or withdrawing mid-semester who need to transfer their own cases
- Clinics that already keep deadlines.yaml and client-comms logs in the expected folder layout
Skip it if
- Firms or organisations outside a clinic setting, since the paths and workflow assume clinic roles (reason: the skill is built around clinic supervision models)
- Use on live client matters without professor review, since the memos are meant to be checked before they reach incoming students and may contain sensitive client information (reason: privacy and supervision risk)
- Clinics without maintained deadline and communication records, since the output would be incomplete or guessed (reason: the skill is told not to guess the active case list)
Try asking
- “Wrap up the semester for the clinic and generate handoff memos for all active cases”
- “Build a transition memo for the eviction defence case I am leaving with the incoming student”
- “Create the cohort summary showing outgoing and incoming owners for spring 2026”
- “Offboard a student withdrawing mid-semester from their single case”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Review every generated memo before it goes to the incoming student, especially the professor flags and client relationship sections, since they may contain sensitive details
- Keep deadlines.yaml and client-comms logs current before running it, because the memos are only as accurate as those source files
- Supply the active-case list yourself if the clinic has no central record, rather than relying on the agent to infer it
