What it does

This skill lets an AI agent read, update, or reset a personal profile file (PRINCIPAL_IDENTITY.md) that describes who you are, your goals, constraints and preferences. Because that file loads at the start of every session, the agent starts each conversation already knowing this context. Viewing shows the current profile, editing changes only the sections you ask about, and clearing resets the file to a blank template after a backup and your explicit confirmation, without deleting the file.

Great for

  • People using the LifeOS personal AI framework who want to keep their identity context current
  • Users who want one place to inspect and adjust what their AI assistant knows about them
  • Anyone who wants a backup-first way to reset personal context

Skip it if

  • Changing agent configuration such as settings.json or CLAUDE.md; the skill says to use a separate config skill for those, and it excludes them explicitly
  • Storing sensitive health, relationship or financial details, since the skill only records those when you explicitly ask, and the file is loaded into every session
  • Users without the LifeOS directory structure, because the skill assumes that file layout and its freshness conventions

Try asking

  • “show my profile”
  • “update my profile to add that I prefer metric units”
  • “clear my profile”
  • “who am I”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Profile ManagerInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 5 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    Profile.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip Profile.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip Profile.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Make a manual copy of your profile file before using Clear, even though the skill backs it up to ~/Downloads first
  • Edit the frontmatter keys rather than the generated block, otherwise changes may not be seen by the model
  • Expect changes to take effect in the next session, since the file loads at startup
