What it does

When installed, the agent works through a structured pricing process for whatever product you name: it identifies the value delivered and what customers would otherwise pay, compares pricing models (flat-rate, per-seat, usage-based, tiered, freemium, value-based), maps competitor tiers, and proposes a tier structure with a value metric. It can also estimate price sensitivity (using Van Westendorp survey data if you supply it) and suggests pricing experiments, ending with a recommendation that lists assumptions to validate before launch. It can optionally use web search to look up competitor prices.

Great for

  • Founders or product managers preparing to set prices for a new SaaS or digital product
  • Teams considering a pricing change or deciding between freemium and paid
  • Anyone who wants a structured checklist of pricing questions and a draft pricing page to test

Skip it if

  • Final pricing decisions without validation: the output is a reasoned draft built from assumptions, and it needs real customer testing and financial modelling before launch
  • Regulated or legally sensitive pricing (e.g. price-fixing concerns, consumer price rules), which needs professional legal or compliance advice
  • Physical goods or commodity markets where cost-plus or market-price logic dominates and this framework adds little

Try asking

  • “Use the pricing-strategy skill to design pricing tiers for my B2B project management app.”
  • “Compare freemium versus a paid-only model for my note-taking tool and recommend one.”
  • “Help me prepare a pricing change for my existing subscription, including experiments to run first.”
  • “Analyze competitor pricing for my design collaboration tool and find gaps I could exploit.”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    pricing-strategy.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip pricing-strategy.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip pricing-strategy.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Provide your competitor pricing pages, survey results, or usage data as files so the analysis is grounded in real numbers rather than guesses.
  • Name the product, target customer, and the value it saves or earns them, since the skill starts from value delivered.
  • Treat the recommended price points and assumptions as hypotheses, and ask the agent to turn each one into a concrete test.
