What it does
When this skill is installed, the agent approaches slow software the way an experienced performance engineer would: it measures first, pinpoints the actual bottleneck (for example slow page loads, janky interactions, or repeated database queries), makes one targeted fix, and measures again to confirm it helped. It uses standard web vitals targets (LCP, INP, CLS) and a checklist of common backend and frontend anti-patterns such as N+1 queries and missing pagination, and it opens a separate reference file with worked fixes only when needed.
Great for
- Developers debugging slow web pages or APIs who want a disciplined measure-fix-verify process
- Teams investigating Core Web Vitals scores or database query slowness
- Engineers reviewing a change suspected of causing a performance regression
Skip it if
- Projects with no performance problem yet: the skill itself warns that optimizing without evidence adds complexity without benefit
- Non-developers expecting one-click speedups; the agent still needs access to profiling data, logs, or a running system to measure anything
Try asking
- “My product listing page takes 6 seconds to load, help me find out why and fix it.”
- “This endpoint got much slower after last week's release; diagnose the likely database cause.”
- “Our Lighthouse LCP score is poor on the homepage; walk me through the bottleneck and fix.”
- “Check our ORM code for N+1 query patterns and suggest fixes.”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip performance-optimization.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip performance-optimization.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Give the agent real measurements (Lighthouse report, slow query log, trace) so it works from evidence rather than guesses.
- Name the specific page, endpoint, or symptom you care about so the agent follows the matching diagnostic path.
- Ask the agent to re-measure after each fix and revert changes that did not improve the numbers.
